posted Nov 14, 2014, 12:50 PM by Church Office   [ updated Nov 14, 2014, 12:50 PM ]

An event will be held at the St. John the Evangelist Church in Lakemont in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the publication of the Second Vatican Council's "Decree on Ecumenism." The torch of promoting Christian Unity and Interfaith Dialogue has been taken up anew by Pope Francis, whose witness to the call for unity among Christians and among world religions has not gone unnoticed! A commanding presence on the world stage, Pope Francis has captured the imagination and stirred the hearts of Christians and non-Christians alike. The evening's presentations will open into a lively discussion of the impact which he has upon the local communities of faith. Keynote speaker is Bishop Mark Bartchak with panelists from the Orthodox, Evangelical Lutheran, Jewish, Methodist and First Baptist churches. Please make an effort to attend this groundbreaking discussion on Tuesday, November 18th from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 309 Lotz Avenue, Lakemont.
