In a world filled with hopelessness and despair, Our Lord offers a glorious resting place within His love and presence. As many of experience the "deadening" effects of sin, it is on this day that we remember Jesus conquered death in order to bring life--to its fullest--to each of us. We may have created our own "tombs" within which we dwell surrounded by temptation, lukewarm faith, selfishness, and greed. God instructs us to turn to Him, and trust in Him to roll away the stone from our personal tombs. It is only when we fully focus on God's will for our lives that we "rise above" the murkiness of this world and begin to live the peace-filled lives Jesus died to give us.

Our souls long for peace. Our hearts long to be filled. Our beings long to be loved with the unconditional love only God can offer. We are transformed into joyful believers when we surrender to God's presence and actively seek Jesus' influence in our daily lives. As Christ rose from the dead, we too are invited to rise from death through Him. Attaining peace in the world today is absolutely possible if we turn our hearts and minds toward God. We are all invited to be aware of the promises of Christ. And we should expect to see our Risen Lord walking beside us as a companion and a friend.

It is with honor that I serve the people of this parish. So many of you in so many ways--often quiet and unseen--have shown that the Spirit of the Risen Lord is alive in your hearts. What greater treasure or blessing could one have? Please accept my sincere prayers for the Lord's abundant blessings on you all. The Lord IS risen. Alleluia!
