ADDITION OF ST. MICHAEL PRAYER AT CONCLUSION OF THE RECITED ROSARY

posted Feb 27, 2015, 2:19 PM by Mary Tocimak   [ updated Feb 27, 2015, 2:19 PM ]

At the conclusion of the recited Rosary, which is prayed prior to Masses on the first weekend of every month, a special prayer to St. Michael will be added. St. Michael is the Guardian Angel and protector of the Catholic Church. The prayer was composed by Pope Leo XIII on October 13, 1884 after he beheld a horrible vision of evil spirits attacking the Church. In the midst of the horror a consoling vision of the glorious Archangel Michael appeared and cast Satan and his legions back into hell. In today's world, more than ever, we need to invoke St. Michael's special protection.

PRAYER TO ST. MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
