IMPROVEMENT FUND CAMPAIGN   Thank you for your generous contributions to the Parish Improvement Campaign.  The good news is that we have raised $21,662.  The bad news is that we had to spend $9,000 to have the parking lot sealed and $18,000 to have the air conditioner repaired.  We still need to repair the garage near the church hall.  Again, I appreciate all your support towards our goal of $30,000.

FR JOE will be celebrating Mass this Saturday, July 17th at 4:00 P.M. and Fr. John will be here for Masses on Sunday.

ALTOONA CURVE BASEBALL / 3rd BASE PICNIC AREA   There are still tickets available for the evening out at the Altoona Curve on Sunday, August 1st at 6:00 P.M.  The sign-up sheet for has been placed on the Cry Room shelf.  The Parish will be paying for all tickets for this outing since there was no Parish Dinner in January and no picnic planned for this summer.  Along with your ticket there will be BBQ Ribs, grilled chicken breasts, hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, baked beans, chips, cookies and soda.  The game is at 6:00 P.M., gates open at 5:00 P.M. and food is available from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.  This is on a first come sign-up basis, we can only purchase 50 tickets for this area.  We must have all reservations made by this Sunday, July 18th

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS will meet this Tuesday, July 20th at 7:00 P.M. in the Parish Hall.

CHURCH HISTORY   Fr. John and Julie Houston are going to be working on putting together a “Church History” book for our parish.   If you have any records, pictures, stories, etc. about our parish that you would like to have included in this book, please contact Fr. John or drop items off at the Church Office.  We will make copies of any items and return the originals to you.

FALL FEST   Fall Fest will be held on Sunday, October 24th and parishioners are being asked to help make this event a success by donating baskets to be raffled, gift cards and lottery tickets.  You can also help by selling and/or purchasing 50/50 tickets which will be available shortly for $1 a ticket or 6 for $5.00.  Also help will be needed to setup, cleanup or work during the festival. Please mark your calendars now for a day of fun and fellowship and watch the bulletin for more information.

WHY IS IT SO HARD FOR US TO TAKE TIME TO REST?  In today’s Gospel, Jesus welcomes His disciples back from their mission of spreading the good news to various towns and villages throughout the region of Galilee. They have been quite busy the past few months and when they return, Jesus tells them to go away and get some rest.  Also, God rested on the seventh day after being busy for the first six days creating the universe.  So if Jesus tells His disciples to get some rest and God rested, why is it so hard for us to take time for ourselves and go away and rest?  How many of us go away on vacation and spend the week scheduling as many activities as we can to fill up each day? I know when I go away, I make tee times, schedule dinners, visit historical places, and many other activities.  Can you relate?  I need to stop worrying about all the things I can do, and focus on resting and recharging.  What good is a vacation if you come back and are exhausted from all the things you did on vacation? So again, I ask, why is it hard for us to just sit around and rest, read a book, take a quiet walk, and put our cell phones down for a few hours?  My guess is that if we do take time to rest, we feel guilty and may think we are wasting time.  How many of us get asked how are you doing and we replay, I am so busy? Did anyone ever tell you that they are just relaxing this summer and trying not to do anything stressful? I suspect not.  Today, Jesus gives us permission to go away and rest.  We all need time to quiet ourselves down and rejuvenate. Otherwise, we continue to be stressed out and lose our patience, especially with our loved ones.  This week, try and set aside an hour or two and get some rest.  Why? Because Jesus said so!!

GRATITUDE MESSAGES   We are running low on the gratitude messages for the bulletin and would like to fill up the vase in the front of the Church.  Please fill out a card with your “Gratitude Message” on it and place it in the baskets that are in the back and front of the Church.
