FAMILIES AND THE GOSPEL
In
today’s gospel, Jesus asked Simon to start by “going a short distance.” Later he asked Simon to “go into deeper
water.” The first step toward
reconciliation is usually a “short distance” which gives us the courage to go
further “into deeper water.”
Reconciliation starts with the first short step! Luke 5:1-11 |

STEWARDSHIP RELFECTIONS
4th Sunday of
Ordinary Time -
Only when you share your time, abilities and finances with an attitude of
gratitude founded in the love of Jesus, can that sharing be seen as Christian
stewardship. |
FAMILY AND THE GOSPEL
Mary
and Joseph must have been proud when their village “all spoke well of Jesus and
were amazed at his words.” But they
probably felt shame when the same people drove him out of town. Like Mary and Joseph, the highs and lows of
parenting are our path to being a Holy Family. Luke 4:21-30 |

PIEROGIE MAKING SESSIONS STARTING ON WEDNESDAY’S
Ss. Peter & Paul parishioners along with help from the Altar & Rosary Society will begin making pierogies for the Lenten season on Wednesday afternoons at 12:30 P.M. beginning on Wednesday, February 13th. Any men and women who are able to donate a few hours to help would be greatly appreciated. No experience is necessary and you don’t have to commit to every Wednesday, just whenever you can help. If you are interested in joining this group, please don’t hesitate to come. For more information, please call Kate Coval at 342-5274 or Lynda Mull at 342-2050. Pierogies will be sold every Wednesday beginning Ash Wednesday, March 6th from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M. The price per “Bakers” dozen will be $5.00. Proceeds of this fundraiser benefit the Altar & Rosary and the Parish. |
PRECIOUS BLOOD OF THE LORD
Because
of the seriousness of this flu season, Bishop Bartchak has asked that the
Precious Blood of the Lord not be offered at Mass temporarily. It is the belief of the Catholic Church that
the whole Body of Christ is present under either form of consecrated bread and
wine. Reception of Holy Communion on the
hand is encouraged; however, reception on the tongue may not be denied. Also, the exchange of the sign of peace should
avoid bodily contact. A reverent nod with eye contact and a smile will be the
temporary practice. These norms are in
effect throughout the winter months or until the flu season is over. |
TITHING CONTRIBUTIONS (FEB. 2-3)
The
tithing check from last weekend (Feb. 2-3) was $426.60 and was donated to St. Vincent de
Paul. |
